There are many reasons, mental and physical, for you to choose Hypnotherapy. The main reason is to find the underlying cause to the effect an ailment is having upon you. I have chosen a few examples which are as follows:- A. Anxiety/Addictions/Asthma B. Back problems/Bed wetting/Buried trauma C. Child abuse/Confidence/Creativity D. Depression/Drug Abuse E. Eczema/Ego/Emotions F. Fear/Failure/Family problems The list is endless, needless to say, Hypnotherapy is not a cure all, but gives you a valuable insight into the cause. REMOVE THE CAUSE AND THERE WILL BE NO EFFECT!
How Hypnosis works We all have two minds, a conscious and a subconscious. The conscious mind is the critical and analytical side, The subconscious mind is where dreams, fantasies and illusions are formed, this is our creative side. When these two minds are at conflict it causes a disturbance or imbalance resulting in bodily ailments such as anxiety, panic attacks, skin complaints, phobias etc................. Hypnosis takes you back to the root cause, by relaxing the body and conscious mind, allowing the subconscious mind to speak freely, without criticism from the conscious mind.
The history of Hypnotherapy Through the ages Hieroglyphics on Egyptian tombs recorded forms of hypnosis dating back to 3000 BC, the oldest written record of hypnosis was obtained from the Ebers Papyrus, describing hypnosis before the use of medicine in 1552 BC. The King Pyrrus of Egypt, The Emperor Vesspian, Francis I of France, and other kings up to Charles X also practiced healing in this manner. Hippocrates the Greek physician who was referred to as the Father of medicine, also discussed the phenomenon saying," The affliction suffered by the body, the soul see's quite well with the eyes shut" ( i.e.) quieten the conscious mind and speak directly to the subconscious mind. Hypnosis was also found to be used by Jesus and was recorded in the bible, Genesis 2v 21-22, saying, "The Lord caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, whilst removing his rib and closed up the place with flesh". In this incident hypnosis was used as an anaesthetic. Genghis Khan also was known to use hypnosis in the 13th century. The Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans built sleep temples around the 5th century, these temples were dedicated to the fertility goddess Isis. She was believed to have healing powers, once under hypnosis Isis was said to reveal herself and offer both diagnosis and treatment. Colour therapy was also used in the temples. Hypnosis arrived in France in the 18th century, brought to Paris by an Australian physician Franz Anton Mesmer, hence the terminology "Mesmerized". He developed the theory of "Animal magnetism". A pioneer in the development of hypnosis and psychotherapy. Mesmer experienced early success, but later in his career was ridiculed and left Paris in disgrace. Scottish surgeon James Esdale 1808-1859 was said to perform more than 250 operations, such as amputations and removal of tumours, using mesmerism as the sole anaesthetic, until the discovery of chloroform.
